Course Objectives

The aim of the course is to enable the student to acquire the basic scientific and physical knowledge of geometric optics, the fundamental properties of light and the main optical instruments. The student, after understanding the principles, will be able to apply them on examples and understand the effect. The student will be able to understand what happens in reality with independent judgment.

Course Prerequisites

Knowledge of high school mathematics.

Teaching Methods

The course includes 20 hours of frontal teaching, divided into lessons of 2 hours depending on the academic calendar. Frontal teaching consists of theoretical lessons and practical application with exercises.

Assessment Methods

The verification of the student's competency consists of a written test with a resolution of 3 exercises related to the entire program with a possible subsequent oral integration of the teacher's discretion. The total points (30) will be divided on the basis of the questions present in the test. The total score is given by the sum of the correct scores in response to the individual exercises. The duration of the written test is about 60 minutes.
