Syllabus

Course Objectives


During the Course the students will learn the correct grammatical forms of English language, so that they will be able to use the language appropriately. Students will learn the terminology related to food sciences and to the main metabolic disturbances. All of this will allow students to be independently at ease in a medical environment in an English-speaking country.

Course Prerequisites

Good knowledge of basic standard English.

Teaching Methods

In-class lessons.

Assessment Methods


The final exam consists in 30 multiple choice questions concerning the issues discussed during in-class lessons. The students must answer correctly to 18 questions.


Texts


Class attendance is enough for students to learn all the subjects and issues presented during the lessons, which are necessary to pass final examination. The professor will provide students with all the material and slides used during the lessons. As further support for studying, students can use any grammar books, as long as they have an ISBN, and the Merriam-Webster English Dictionary. Students can also access the Internet websites accepted by the international scientific community like PubMed Medline and its section - Medline Plus.​​​​​​​

Contents


The Course includes review and use of English grammar. The professor besides explaining the various grammar rules, reserves time for exercises during which students participate in speaking English.
