Syllabus

Course Objectives


The course aims to provide students with fundamental knowledge and skills in computer science and in the use of digital technologies applied to healthcare and obstetric contexts.
Through theoretical lectures and computer-based laboratory activities, students will acquire:


familiarity with computer architecture and network systems;

practical skills in the use of productivity software (particularly Microsoft Excel);

the ability to organize, analyze, and present clinical and biometric data;

knowledge of the main principles of cybersecurity, health data privacy, and artificial intelligence applied to obstetrics.

Teaching Methods


The course is structured to combine traditional lectures with practical hands-on laboratory sessions, aimed at consolidating the knowledge acquired.
Practical sessions will be held frequently and will be preceded by a brief introductory lecture.

Fundamentals of computer science and computer networks: data and information encoding, hardware and software components, computer architecture, network principles, GDPR and digital systems;
applied health informatics: digital images, electronic health record management, telemedicine, search engines, and cloud-based services;
practical laboratory in Microsoft Excel: data handling, medical statistics, data visualization, and the use of spreadsheets, formulas, charts, and pivot tables;
artificial intelligence and digital innovation in obstetrics: digital tools and algorithmic approaches supporting clinical practice and decision-making.
