Syllabus

Course Objectives

The course adopt the exigency/performance methodology for the design of the construction systems.
The objectives are aimed at:
- provide an overview of the main construction techniques (knowledge);
- acquire the control tools of the main behaviors of heavy and light construction systems and the functioning of conservative, selective or regenerative energy models (skills);
- configure adequate reading skills, analysis and definition of the project of simple constructions (competence).

The teaching includes an introduction to the use of BIM methodology (Building Information Modeling) to the Technological Design of Architecture.

Course Prerequisites

Successfully sustained the examination of "Materials and design of building Elements " and of "Descriptive geometry"

Teaching Methods

The course is organized in a way to create a continuous exchange of theoretical and practical aspects relating to the discipline.
To this end, there will be seminars and lectures that will find
a practical application in the design experimentation developed
within the Course.
The exercise activities will be conducted favoring the digital approach to the technological project. In this regard, all graphic materials must be developed through the use of BIM or similar software (three-dimensional digital or surface modeling integrated with information databases).

Assessment Methods

The final exam will consist of the presentation , in a collegial form, of the summary materials concerning the project activities carried out as well as of the in-depth studies developed in the individual courses (intermediate elaborations).

Contents

The aim of the teaching is to provide the student with an awareness of the relationships existing between the physical and environmental factors of the context and the requirements that the technical elements of the buildings (structures, closures, plant systems, partitions) must have to ensure living comfort and maintenance of performance over time.
Likewise, the teaching aims to provide students with the skills to design constructive solutions consistent with the most recent construction techniques (traditional / industrialized), guaranteeing a continuous and in-depth control of the role played by the individual materials, products and subsystems of construction within architectural artefact.

The course requires mandatory participation, with
minimum attendance of 70% of lessons and exercises.
Training activities can be developed in group.
Each group can have a maximum of two members.
Registration to the course must be carried out within the first 2 weeks of the start of lessons.
