Course Objectives


The course aims to complete the student's business-economic training with theoretical-methodological contents useful to deepen themanagement aspects of production. Acquirable skills:Knowledge and ability to understand- recognize the various production configurations;- illustrate the fundamental characteristics of traditional and advanced production processes;Autonomy of judgment- link economic, business and management aspects of industrial production;- carry out general evaluations concerning the economic aspects of production.Communication skills- combine the technical and managerial terminology related to production management;- contribute to the resolution of problems relating to management aspects of production.

Teaching Methods


The course is structured in 72 hours of frontal teaching, divided into 2-hours modules, according to the academic calendar. The frontal teaching consists of theoretical lessons (lectures), insights also through seminars held by experts on the topics covered and possible group work.

Assessment Methods


The final exam consists of an oral examination with an evaluation in thirtieths. The object of examination reflects those treated during thecourse. In order to pass the exam it is necessary a correct use of the terminology and a clear and concise exposition that highlights the logical connections among the aspects studied.

Contents


The course addresses the management and organization of business processes that transform resources into goods or services, with the aim of maximizing efficiency and customer satisfaction. In particular, the course analyses the main production paradigms of the 20th century, from the origins of manufacturing, to mass production, through lean production, up to the most recent paradigm of eco-compatible production or cleaner production. It aims to provide the knowledge bases useful for a critical analysis of the relationships between organizational-managerial and technological aspects in industrial production and the role of the external environment in influencing its evolutionary dynamics.
