Course Objectives

In accordance with the Dublin descriptors, the Biology course for CdS students in the field of Sport and Sport Sciences provides the basic biological knowledge necessary to understand:a. the constructive logic of the fundamental biological structures and the different levels of organization of living matter;b. the structure and functional organization of eukaryotic cells, with particular reference to the structure and function of the cell and muscle fiber; c. the unitary principles that govern the functioning of living cells in their energy balance;d. expression, transmission between generations, mutations, epigenetic modifications and the evolution of genetic information; e. the genes-environment interactions that regulate the development and adaptation of the musculoskeletal system in particular and, in general, of motor and sports skills.Knowledge and understanding. The student will have to know and understand the basic structure of living matter, cellular and molecular biology.Ability to apply knowledge and understanding.Starting from the molecular organization of life, the student must be able to:1) understand the structure and function of each cellular component / compartment;2) integrate the knowledge acquired; 3) apply the knowledge acquired to the understanding of complex biological mechanisms and the interrelationships between different cellular structures and between living beings; 4) apply the basics of biology acquired for a better understanding of the issues in the bio-medical field subsequently treated during the training course in motor science.Autonomy of judgmentHaving the adequate knowledge provided during the course, the student will be able to easily identify and compare the different cellular structures, understand their function and related molecular mechanisms.Communication skillsThe student must be able to present the acquired knowledge with an appropriate scientific language, showing a mature and complete understanding of the topics.Learning abilityThe student must be able to develop a learning method that allows him to improve, expand and update skills in the field of applied biology in a conscious, autonomous and fast way.At the end of the course the student will be able to know the main aspects of the biological processes that regulate motor activities.

Course Prerequisites

None

Teaching Methods

The teacher will carry out the lectures with the aid of electronic devices. In the event of a health emergency, the lessons will be held on a digital platform indicated by the University.

Assessment Methods

The evaluation of the student includes a written test, which will serve to demonstrate the knowledge of the program, at the end a vote expressed in thirtieths will be attributed.Students who will score between 16 and 17 in the written test will be admitted to the oral exam. Students who will score a score greater than or equal to 18 in the written test may or may not take the oral exam. For the written test the student will have one hour.WRITTEN EXAM ASSESSMENT:1 point for each correct answers0 point for incorrect answers or not givenEVALUATION ORAL EXAMIn the oral test, questions relating to the program carried out to ascertain knowledge, the logic followed by the student in solving the questions and the adequacy of the language will be formulated.Oral exam grade expressed out of thirty18-20: just enough knowledge and understanding of the topics21-23: sufficient knowledge and understanding of topics24-26: fair knowledge of the topics27-29 : good knowledge and presentation of the topics30: excellent knowledge and presentation of the topics30 and prize: excellent knowledge of the topics and fluent presentation skills
