Course Objectives

The course intends to give the student basic knowledge about:
- the composition and function of the human genome
- the importance of genetic factors for origin of Hereditary diseases,
- abnormalities and developmental disorders in humans .

Contents

The Medical Genetics course will cover topics focused on the study of the genetic basis of normal and pathological human characteristics. Topics such as the genetics of congenital pathologies, the genetics of cancer, the genetics of autosomal dominant, recessive, X-Linked diseases, triplet expansion diseases, reproduction, disorders of sexual differentiation (DSD) and prenatal diagnosis will be analyzed.
