Syllabus

Course Objectives

The course of Advanced Topics in Data Science in Economics aims at contributing to the student's educational development by advanced methods for quantitative analysis that are useful for economic and business decision-making. Through projects, the course provides advanced methodological and practical knowledge in data science for economic data using the open-source statistical software R. By the end of the course, the student, through the development of a research project using R, will be able to analyze databases, including large-ones, with modern statistical techniques. The knowledge acquired will enable them to critically interpret economic and/or business dynamics.

Course Prerequisites

Base knowledge of R and data science topics.

Teaching Methods

Project/Statistical analysis on economic data.

Assessment Methods

Knowledge and understanding will be assessed through the discussion of the research project carried out using R. The project must be submitted to the instructor at least one week before the exam date. The exam will be graded with a mark expressed on a scale of thirty. During the development of the research project, students' ability to apply data science modeling knowledge to real-world analytical situations will also be assessed.
