Syllabus

Course Objectives

The course will focus on the study, reading and commentary of two key texts in nineteenth-century Western philosophy. The aim of the course will be the acquisition of the main categories of analysis of modern philosophy and in particular of German classical idealism and the reception of this tradition in twentieth-century philosophy.

Course Prerequisites

Knowledge of the history of ancient, modern and contemporary philosophy

Teaching Methods

The methodology adopted aims to read and comment on the texts; and to lead a historical and philological analysis of the main concepts.
The course will be conducted through lectures and seminar meetings aimed at directly involving the students.

Assessment Methods

The exam will consist of an oral interview with the lecturer aimed at assessing the student's knowledge and understanding of the topics covered during the course. In the event of particularly large exam sessions, written exams may be required. The mark is expressed out of thirty. Evaluation criteria are based on what is made explicit in the "Formative Objectives" framework, in terms of: ability to discursively organize knowledge, critical reasoning skills, and quality of exposition, including the use of disciplinary vocabulary.
