Course Prerequisites

For a successful learning experience in the General Pedagogy course, the following knowledge and skills are considered desirable and assumed to be already acquired:Basic knowledge in the field of human sciences, particularly introductory concepts from psychology, sociology, and philosophy, typically acquired during upper secondary education.Reading comprehension and analytical skills, especially in relation to essayistic and argumentative texts, which are essential for critically engaging with pedagogical materials.Basic communication skills, both written and oral, necessary for active participation in discussions, workshops, and seminar activities.Logical and argumentative reasoning skills, to support the theoretical and reflective approach that characterizes pedagogical study.

Teaching Methods

The course is delivered in person and combines different teaching approaches that align with the expected learning outcomes. The main methods include:Classroom lectures, aimed at presenting theoretical frameworks and key concepts, and providing a structured overview of the course content.Practical sessions and case study discussions, to help students apply their knowledge and develop analytical and critical thinking skills;Seminars with invited speakers, offering in-depth exploration of specific topics and opportunities to engage with professionals and researchers.Group activities and presentations, designed to enhance teamwork, communication, and independent judgement.Optional activities (e.g. workshops, project work, fieldwork) may be offered during the semester and will be announced in class or through the e-learning platform.Attendance is not mandatory, but it is strongly recommended, as active participation in the various learning activities greatly supports the achievement of the course’s intended learning outcomes.

Assessment Methods

The exam consists of a written test designed to assess learning, conceptual mastery, and interpretation and analysis skills. The exam lasts approximately 20 minutes. The test will be graded with a score between 0 and 30 (with possible honors). A score of 18 to 23 indicates sufficient learning, a score of 23 to 28 indicates good learning, a score of 28 to 30 indicates excellent learning, and a score of "with honors" indicates particular analytical and critical reasoning skills in the course topics.Learning assessment is achieved through a written exam consisting of 15 multiple-choice questions. The questions cover the entire course curriculum. Grades are expressed in thirtieths. The final score is determined based on the number of correct answers. The passing threshold is 18/30. Incorrect or unanswered questions do not incur any penalties. The exam is structured to distinguish different levels of proficiency, consistent with the expected learning outcomes.
