Syllabus

Course Objectives




Gain theoretical and practical skills in geomatics and surveying techniques.

Understand geodetic and cartographic reference systems for territorial data processing.

Apply GIS tools for spatial analysis and mapping.

Acquire knowledge of Italian cadastral regulations and update procedures.

Integrate traditional and digital surveying methods effectively.

Course Prerequisites


Basic knowledge of mathematics, physics, and computer science.
Elements of cartography and geodesy.
Preliminary knowledge of GIS is recommended but not mandatory.

Teaching Methods




Lectures with multimedia support.
Practical field surveys.
Data processing workshops (GIS, CAD, PREGEO, DOCFA software).
Group work and project work.
Analysis of real case studies.

Fundamentals of geomatics and surveying.

Traditional surveying techniques (leveling, total station, GNSS).

Geodetic and cartographic reference systems.

Digital surveying: terrestrial and aerial photogrammetry, laser scanning, mobile mapping.

Data processing and management in GIS environment.

Italian cadastral system: land and building cadastre, legal framework, DOCFA and PREGEO procedures.

Production of technical maps and GIS thematic layers.

Field and lab exercises (data acquisition, processing, and mapping).

Attendance at laboratory activities and field surveys is required.
Students must have a laptop with the software indicated by the instructor.
Possible technical visits to local or cadastral authorities.
