Syllabus

Course Objectives


Students should be able to:
1. Carry out, following the doctor's diagnosis and prescriptions and as a team with other professionals, the functional assessment of the patient. The assessment should consider the subject's medical history, the data collected, the assessment instruments adopted, and the observation of the patient/client obtained using specific tests and/or rating scales or suitable instruments;
2. design the rehabilitative intervention, aimed at identifying and overcoming the needs of the person with disabilities and their initiation towards personal autonomy in the daily living environment and in the social environment;
3. planning and executing the rehabilitation intervention according to the project,
identifying the modalities, the timing of application of the different rehabilitation techniques, considering the relevant indications and contraindications, with a specific view to a comprehensive and/or analytical approach and in any case functional to the solution of the problem;
4. treat physical, mental and psychiatric conditions, temporary or permanent, addressing patients of all ages; use both individual and group activities, promoting the recovery and optimal use of functions aimed at the reintegration, adaptation and integration of the individual in his or her personal, domestic and social environment;
5. propose changes in the living environment and promote educational actions for the patient/client, the family and the community;
6. verify the correspondences between the implemented rehabilitation methodology and the objectives of functional and psychosocial recovery;
7. recognize and respect their own and other care team members' roles and competencies, establishing collaborative relationships, interacting and collaborating actively with interprofessional teams to planning and managing inter - multidisciplinary rehabilitative interventions.

Course Prerequisites


No propaedeuticity needed. However, it is recommended the students have attended the first semester classes of the first year

Teaching Methods


The course consists of 100 hours with frontal teaching, supervision of activities carried out in the facilities, and the possibility of personal interviews with individual students or groups of students to address critical issues occurred during the traineeship.

Assessment Methods


Verification of all documents issued by the facilities for certification of the service performed within them, verification of attendance during face-to-face classes, and an oral test in which the skills acquired are verified.

Contents


The attainment of professional skills is implemented through theoretical and practical training that also includes the acquisition of behavioral skills. The refinement of these skills will occur in the university- and work-related context specific to the psychosocial field of internship. The goal is to ensure, by the end of the training period, the students master all the necessary professional skills, instrumental for their immediate application in work-related context. Of paramount importance, as an integral and qualifying part of professional training, is the practical training and clinical internship activity.
