Syllabus

Course Objectives


The primary objective of the course is to provide the theoretical foundations in the context of occupational therapy assessment. The students are set to acquire a wide range of transferrable skills in the context of clinical practice.

Course Prerequisites


Knowledge of the anatomy and the physiology of the nervous system and of the mechanisms of the generation and transmission of neuronal signals. Ability to understand texts in English.

Teaching Methods


The course consists of 10 hours of frontal teaching, divided into 5 lessons of 2 hours. The lectures take advantage of the support of slides and concern theoretical aspects of the discipline integrated by practical examples of the main study paradigms.

Assessment Methods


The final exam consists of an interview aimed at assessing the knowledge of the main evaluation questionnaires, their features, as well as their use in relevant settings. The ability to refer to experimental evidence in support of the arguments and to organize the speech in a clear, effective, critical way, using appropriate scientific language will also be evaluated. Results are based on a 30-point scale.

Acquisition of the necessary abilities for selecting and applying the correct questionnaires in the different, relevant settings
Overview of the major questionnaires employed in the clinical practice and instrumental for the proper development of a rehabilitation plan.
