To learn the basics of the physiology of the oral cavity and of the processes that imply the odontostomatological apparatus.
At the end of the course, students will be able to know and understand: the basics of oral physiology; the processes underlying the dental system.
At the end of the course, students will be able to apply the knowledge acquired to: recognize the physiological state or altered physiological mechanisms that may underlie the development of pathologies; share information and suggestions regarding specific issues of dental hygiene in a clear and concise manner, with both specialists and non-specialists; use scientific terms and appropriate language for effective communication with other healthcare professionals.
At the end of the course, students will be able to: formulate personal judgments to solve analytical and complex problems; integrate knowledge and independently research information.
Upon completion of the course, students will be able to: establish and maintain communication relationships for general and/or technical communications; listen carefully to extract and synthesize relevant information on all issues, understanding their content; interact with other professionals involved in prevention through effective teamwork.
Upon completion of the course, students will be able to: learn and update their skills independently; use information and communications technology; undertake further studies with a high degree of autonomy.
Course Prerequisites
Anatomical knowledge of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems and of the oral cavity and of the main biochemical processes underlying cellular metabolisms, in order to understand the physiological processes. See Teaching Regulations of the Course.

Assessment Methods
The knowledge acquired and its understanding and critical integration are tested by means of an oral interview, at least one question on the apparatus and one question on the special part. The grade is expressed in thirtieths. Evaluation criteria are based on what is made explicit in the "Formative Objectives" framework, in terms of: ability to discursively organize knowledge, critical reasoning skills, and quality of exposition, including the use of disciplinary vocabulary.

HUMAN PHYSIOLOGY course for: -Dental hygien (2 CFU, 20 hours of frontal teaching) CONTENT: General part: Excitable tissues and potentials. Synapses. Neurotransmitters. Hematopoietic organs and tissues. Physiology of blood coagulation. Cardiovascular and respiratory systems.
