Syllabus

Course Objectives

The course contributes to achieving the learning objectives
of the Degree course in Philology, linguistics and literary traditions, aiming and aims
at consolidating and broadening of the knowledge and philological
methodologies acquired in undergraduate degree course, also in preparation for both doctoral programme
or possible employment with publishing houses, public and private institutes of
culture and research or cultural/academic foundations.

Skills
At the end of the course students should be able of critically study on
Occitan and French texts in their manuscript tradition.
Critical thinking skills
Students must acquire sufficient skills to assess variants, distinguishing those
derived from cross-fertilisations from polygenetic variants, with the aim to
create an autonomous study of the individual copyists and their approach.
Communications Skills Students must know how to present philological
circumstances and problems clearly, in an appropriate language, to
specialised/unspecialised audiences, so as to
foster profitable interdisciplinary synergies with scholars from other fields of
study.

Course Prerequisites

At least 6 Romance Philology ECTS acquired during the undergraduate degree course.

Teaching Methods

The course is organized in seminars. Students will work in groups and present research related to the course contents to the class.

Assessment Methods

The final assessment consists of an oral exam on the entire syllabus. The aim is to assess students’ skills and in particular, an understanding of the issues discussed during the course, an appropriate knowledge of the bibliography in the course programme, a correct command of the specific language as well as critical and methodological abilities will be evaluated. The grading scale goes from 1 to 30 with honours (cum laude): 1-17 fail, 18-21 sufficient, 22-24 fair, 25-27 good, 28-29 very good, 30-30 with honours (cum laude) excellent.
