Syllabus

Course Objectives

The main objective of the Course is the acquisition and consolidation of
language skills required at level B2 of the CEFR. At the end of the course the student will be able to
understand the main ideas of complex texts on both concrete and abstract topics, understand technical discussions in one's field of specialization;
interact with a certain fluency and spontaneity that makes natural interaction with native speakers possible without effort on both sides;
produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of topics and explain a point of view on a specific topic giving the pros and cons of various options.

CEFR B1 level

Teaching Methods

The coursebook provides the guidelines for the program and the activities
that will be carried out. These will be adapted to the characteristics of the
group and integrated with other materials. The lessons will be mainly
practical and conducted in English. Students are encouraged to
participate actively in order to develop their communication skills. New
vocabulary will be presented in the context of real-life situations. New
structures will be briefly introduced and analyzed, followed by controlled
exercises and free practice to facilitate learning and acquisition. Special
emphasis will be placed on the use of authentic materials for individual
study.

Assessment Methods

The exam includes a written test divided into three parts: Reading
comprehension, listening comprehension, use of English
in relation to the topics covered during the lessons. The test will have a
duration of 75 minutes and will be carried out in person. The use
of dictionaries and/or other paper supports is not permitted.
The appeals are open to both attending students and students
not attending.

Contents

The English language workshop includes the reinforcement of the
language abilities as indicated in the B2 level descriptors of the Common
European Framework of Reference (CEFR). There will be reading and
listening comprehension exercises, speaking activities and the study of
grammar structures as well as the lexis related to specific subject areas.
