Course Objectives

From an ecological and medical perspective, the course aims to explore topics related to the biology of microorganisms (bacteria, viruses, and fungi) and their roles both in nature and in human health, including pathogenic microorganisms, molecular pathogenic mechanisms, and strategies for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases.

Course Prerequisites

Those provided for by the Teaching Regulations

Teaching Methods

Frontal teaching

Assessment Methods

An oral exam will assess the student's preparation. The student's ability to apply knowledge and skills will be assessed, as well as whether their skills are adequate to support and solve microbiological problems. Making judgments, communication skills, and learning skills will also be assessed, as indicated in the Dublin descriptors.
The exam will be graded out of 30 based on the following criteria: - Unsatisfactory: significant deficiencies and/or inaccuracies in knowledge and understanding of the topics, limited analysis and synthesis skills, and frequent generalizations. - 18-20: knowledge and understanding of the topics is barely adequate, with possible imperfections; sufficient analysis and synthesis skills, and independent judgment. - 21-23: Routine knowledge and understanding of the topics; correct analysis and synthesis skills with coherent logical argumentation. - 24-26: Fair knowledge and understanding of the topics; Good analytical and synthesis skills with rigorously expressed arguments. - 27-29: Complete knowledge and understanding of the topics; notable analytical and synthesis skills. Good independent judgment. - 30-30L: Excellent knowledge and understanding of the topics. Notable analytical and synthesis skills and independent judgment. Arguments expressed in an original manner.
