A detailed survey of ancient sources on Timanthes’Iphigeneia is the theme that this paper deals with; the choice to hide Agamemnon’s face and his sadness won a wide consideration in rhetorical texts and influenced the later iconography, such as in a maiolica plate from Loreto.
