Una "religione contro la religione"? Rileggendo il Taccuino persiano di Foucault

The essay refers to Foucault’s interventions on the Iranian Revolution (1978- 1979) in the light of an operative concept of “religion”. Beyond the theme of “political spirituality”, his writings underline the role and disposition of “reli- gion” as a heterogeneous whole, including speeches, institutions, architectural arrangements, regulatory decisions, moral statements, and the historical network that can be established between these elements. In this way, it becomes possible, in Foucault’s late discourse, an approach to religious experience that shows its social and political potential, without reducing it to a mere doctrinal enunciation.
