Abstract:
The paper stems from an interest in two of the global challenges of the 21st century: tackling climate change and exploring the applications (as well as implications) of artificial intelligence in cities. The integration of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) in urban planning processes opens up intriguing research prospects to address challenges such as adapting to climate change and promoting social inclusion. Simultaneously, this new frontier raises specific questions: are optimistic expectations justified regarding the contribution of AI in urban planning processes? Or is it wiser to exercise caution, emphasizing the indispensability of human action, especially considering the ethical implementation of new technologies? From the research, confirmation is expected that artificial intelligence is not just a powerful technological tool but a gateway to a paradigm shift in our development model, one more attuned to environmental issues. The challenge will be to have access to a "reliable" artificial intelligence, trained through intelligent systems, capable of providing support for urban decision-making regarding environmental sustainability and adaptation to climate change.
