Abstract:
The central theme explored is the transition between land and sea along the Costa dei Trabocchi in Abruzzo, approached as an opportunity for project experimentation to address contemporary environmental challenges. The adopted method is based on a hybrid and multi-scalar approach, integrating urban planning research and architectural composition, applied to target areas to develop innovative and sustainable design scenarios. The working hypothesis posits that the Via Verde cycle path can evolve from a mere mobility infrastructure into an environmental device able to mitigate territorial vulnerabilities, enhance boundary porosity, biodiversity, and hydrogeomorphological management. The objectives include defining solutions that combine cycle tourism, environmental sustainability, and landscape protection, promoting the reuse of land and materials with an ecological perspective. The achieved results consist of design explorations that propose overcoming the dichotomy between cycle paths and environmental fragility, while encouraging alternative development models that respond to the climatic, landscape, and socio-economic challenges of coastal contexts.
