La filosofia tra scientismo e fondamentalismo

Philosophy between scientism and fundamentalism. This paper deals with the right, the autonomy and the task of philosophical thought in the contemporary world, in which normally the natural sciences or the revealed religions are considered as the instances of the final truth. Philosophy
is to be strictly distinguished both from the natural sciences, which convey universal truths, but always deal only with a part of the world and can
give no answer to the last fundamental questions of life, and from the revealed religions, which raise the illegitimate claim to be in possession of the only valid revelation of God. Philosophy should neither diminish the importance of the sciences nor deny the metaphysical dimension of human existence, but it has the task to criticize harshly any kind of scientific superstition and religious fundamentalism.
