DI NICOLANTONIO MASSIMO

Associate Professor of Industrial Design; He qualified as a Full Professor in 2025; He is currently President of the L-4 Design Degree Course, Department of Architecture, and head of the B-Interior Design Laboratory, the Contemporary Interiors module, and the Interior Design 1 course within the Design Degree Course. He conducts research (Pon-Fesr, Erasmus+, third-party research) in the fields of naval and nautical design and product-system design innovation, with a particular focus on design for sustainability, in the fields of yacht design, sustainable mobility and tourism, and the relationship between design and additive manufacturing. He has won national and international competitions. He is a member of SID, the Italian Design Society. Since 2023, he has been scientific director of the D-Lab, the Digital Fabrication and Visual Prototyping Laboratory at the Department of Architecture.
Since 2022, he has been a member of the teaching staff of the National Doctorate Program "Design for Made in Italy" and a member of the board of the University Research Center UdATechLab, serving as the contact person for the Department of Architecture.
Since 2018, he has served on numerous national and international editorial boards. From 2018 to 2023, he was Chair of the international conference "Additive Manufacturing, Modeling Systems and 3D Prototyping," affiliated with AHFE, the International Conference on Applied Human Factors and Ergonomics; he is currently a member of the Human Aspects of Advanced Manufacturing board. He is the author and co-author of over 70 national and international publications in conference proceedings, books, and journals. Professionally, he has worked in yacht design and has collaborated with the studio AVC, A. Vallicelli & Co, yacht designers and naval architects, for which he has developed numerous projects for sailing and motor yachts and pleasure boats, contributing to aspects related to exterior and interior design.
