LETO Maria Rita

Maria Rita Leto was educated at the University of Florence where she specialized in Russian and Serbo-Croatian languages and literatures, and where she received her Laurea degree in Lingue e Letterature Straniere Moderne (summa cum laude) in 1983. She was the recipient of various fellowships from Intitutions and Universities of the former Yugoslavia, Poland e the former Soviet Union. Her articles and essays appeared in several Journals such as “Most”, “Oko e “Republika” (Zagreb), and the cultural page of “Il Manifesto.” She is a member of the AIS (Italian Association of Slavists) and of the Istituto per l’Europa centro-orientale e balcanica.
- 1995- 1998 Assistant Professor at the University of Bologna, where she taught at the Scuola Superiore di Lingue Moderne per Interpreti e Traduttori, Forlì.
- Since November 1998- she is Associate Professor at the University “G. d’Annunzio” of Chieti-Pescara, in the Department of Foreign Modern Literatures and Languages, Pescara.
- 2003- 2007 member of the Doctoral School in Letterature, Culture, Storia ed Arti dell’Area Adriatica e del Mediterraneo Orientale nell’Età Moderna e Contemporanea and of the Master program in Letterature, Storia e Culture dell’Area Adriatica, University of Chieti-Pescara.
- 2011-2014 member of the Doctoral School in Linguistica, Anglistica, Italianistica, Filologia, University of Chieti-Pescara.
- 2015-2016 member of the Doctoral School in Storia, Patrimonio Culturale e Lingue dell'Area Euro-Mediterranea, University of Chieti-Pescara.
- Since July 2009 Department Delegate in the University Orientation Board.
- 2010-2012 Director of the Corso di Perfezionamento in Mediazione con l’Area Balcanico-Adriatico-Danubiana (M.A.B.A.D.).
- Since 25.11.2014- President of the Corso di Studio in Lingue Straniere per l’Impresa e la Cooperazione Internazionale LM38.

She is coordinator of the exchange-programs between the University “G. d’Annunzio” and the Universities of Zagreb and Belgrade.
She was visiting professor at: Nazareth College, Rochester, NY, USA (2006, 2009); Zagreb University (2007, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2015); Belgrade University (2010, 2011, 2013).
