Design and development of a novel nanonetwork approach as an alternative strategy for cancer treatment
Progetto Nanonet aims to complement the previous project submitted under the MSCA-IF-2020 call by providing an alternative and novel therapeutic method for melanoma therapy. Melanoma is among the most lethal types of skin cancer, with a significant propensity for metastasis. Despite the growing sophistication of treatments, such as targeted medicines and immunotherapies, some patients do not respond adequately to these therapies or develop resistance. The development and application of advanced drug delivery systems is an opportunity to enhance treatment effectiveness and minimise adverse effects. NanoNet intends to develop highly advanced and straightforward selective nano-delivery systems based on natural biomaterial, such as sericin, functionalised with a specific ligand and co-loaded with biogenic nanoparticles and antitumor molecules.
