Syllabus

Course Objectives


Learning objectivesThe course will provide students with the appropriate grammatical andmorphosyntactic awareness necessary for its final objectives throughclear illustrations and explanations reinforced by written and oralexercises. Students will be able to understand texts of a certaincomplexity on cultural, philosophical and pedagogical topics andarticulate concepts clearly and correctly.

Course Prerequisites


Prerequisites:Students must have at least a basic knowledge of the grammar andmorphosyntactic elements of the language

Teaching Methods


Teaching methods:During classroom lessons students will be encouraged to activelyparticipate in oral and written activities on an individual and group level.These will include dictation, reading, translation and discussion of thetopics dealt with in the coursebook. Lessons will include audio-visualmaterial and the use of powerpoint slides.At the end of the course students will be able to read and understandtexts about education and the social sector and discuss their contents inan articulate way.

Assessment Methods


Written verification test on grammar in order to proceed to the final oralexam where students will be assessed as competent (with no marksgiven). The oral exam will consist in a short dictation, reading andtranslation from one or more of the texts studied during the course and a discussionin English on one or more of the topics on the final syllabus.

Contents


Course contents:Detailed and in-depth revison of grammar and vocabulary buildingexercises with oral practice to improve pronunciation and help studentsacquire the ability to articulate phrases correctly at a medium-complexlevel on the topics dealt with during the course.
