Course Objectives

The theme of the course is the ontology of community. After a brief historiographical overview dedicated to the most important philosophical figures who have addressed this theme (Esposito), the course will explore two models of interpretation of the human being understood communally. On the one hand, E. Fink, with a text that stands in stark opposition to the intersubjective perspectives of transcendental phenomenology; then J.L. Nancy, in which the plurality of being is conceived not only from the perspective of the human community, but with regard to the whole reality that surrounds us.

Course Prerequisites

For an adequate understanding of the course, a good knowledge of contemporary philosophy is recommended, but not necessary.

Teaching Methods

The lectures will be conducted in a frontal manner, with the possible help of slides or movies. A series of seminars with national and international colleagues on the topics of the course are being planned.

Assessment Methods

Learning will be assessed through an oral exam lasting approximately 20-25 minutes, graded on a scale of 30, which will consist of two or three questions on the various topics and books covered in the course. The interview will assess the following aspects:

1. Knowledge of the program content

2. Clarity of presentation

3. Appropriateness of language in relation to the discipline

4. Personal reworking of the content.

Satisfaction of points 1 and 2 is a necessary condition for passing the exam. Grades above 27 will be awarded to students whose tests satisfy points 1, 2, and 3. The maximum score, with possible honors, will be awarded to those whose tests fully satisfy all four points indicated.
