Course Objectives


This module aims to teach the student the theoretical fundamentals elements of inferential statistics, to address the main topics of cognitive and mental processing.
Expected learning outcomes
1. Knowledge and Understanding
By the end of the course, the student will be able to:


Understand the fundamental concepts of psychology and its main areas of application.
Know the research methods used in psychology.
Describe the biological bases of human behavior, including the functioning of the nervous system and the role of neurotransmitters.
Explain the processes of sensation, perception, learning, memory, intelligence, language, motivation, and emotion.

2. Applied Knowledge and Understanding
The student will be able to:


Apply theoretical concepts to analyze behaviors and mental processes in real or simulated contexts.
Identify and describe examples of classical and operant conditioning in everyday life.
Use models of memory and learning to understand educational or clinical situations.
Connect psychological theories to the understanding of communicative, motivational, and emotional phenomena.

3. Independent Judgment
The student will be able to:


Critically evaluate different psychological theories and research methods.
Reflect independently on the applicability of psychological knowledge to real-world problems.
Distinguish between scientific approaches and personal opinions in understanding human behavior.

4. Communication Skills
The student will be able to:


Clearly express fundamental psychological concepts using appropriate technical language.
Effectively communicate the results of basic psychological analyses, both in written and oral form.
Actively participate in discussions on psychological topics, coherently arguing their own viewpoints.

5. Learning Skills
The student will be able to:


Independently acquire new knowledge in the field of psychology.
Use the acquired skills as a foundation for further studies in psychology, education, or social sciences.
Develop effective study strategies for learning both theoretical and applied content.

No prerequisites are necessary

Teaching Methods


Frontal lessons, examples and references to practical situations.
During the lessons the teacher teaches the topics both at a theoretical and practical level with examples that include an interactive component between teacher and students.
