Overview

Date/time interval

Primo Semestre (07/10/2025 - 31/01/2026)

Syllabus

Course Objectives

a) To foster critical thinking and scientific discussion, through the analysis of key experiments that have shaped the fields of biology and genetics. b) To provide an integrated and non-dogmatic view of living organisms, highlighting the shared morphological and functional features — from viruses to humans — as well as their interactions and complementarities. c) To introduce the main techniques in biology and genetics currently used in clinical practice

Course Prerequisites

As academic requirements

Teaching Methods

Frontal lessons (obligatory) stimulating interactivity through classroom discussion of the topics addressed.Lessons slides provided by Dr Mandatori

Assessment Methods

The multiple-choice test is composed of 45 questions proportionally distributed for the 3 modules: the module of applied biology is composed by 15 questions. Essential requirement to pass the exam is to answer at least 50% of the questions of each single module. The vote is calculated by multiplying the number of correct answers for each individual module by two and calculating the weighted average. The questions are prepared by the teacher during the academic year of reference. The outcome of the test is evaluated as a result of learning the specific training objectives

Texts
