Syllabus

Course Objectives


The course aims to complete the student's business-economic training with theoretical-methodological and applicative contents useful to deepen, in an eco-industrial perspective, issues related to the “circular transition” of production systems.
Acquirable skills:
Knowledge and ability to understand
- illustrating the basic elements of production from an “input-output system” perspective;
- describe the main environmental criticalities of industrial production
Autonomy of judgment
- analyse economic, business and environmental aspects of industrial production
- recognize and apply the most appropriate recovery and recycling solutions in a life cycle perspective

Communication skills
- correct use of technical terminology.

Teaching Methods


The course is structured in 72 hours of frontal teaching, divided into 2-hours modules, according to the academic calendar. The frontal teaching consists of theoretical lessons (lectures) and seminars held by business experts on the topics covered

Assessment Methods


The final exam consists of an oral examination with an evaluation in thirtieths. The object of examination reflect those treated during the
course. In order to pass the exam it is necessary a correct use of the terminology and a clear and concise exposition that highlights the logical
connections between the aspects considered.

Contents


The course deals with the technological, structural and organizational features of linear production systems and their transition to "closed loop" systems, with particular reference to material flows. The main circular solutions (5R) and their effects on the system are identified; the "end of life" of durable goods and Eco-design and Reverse Logistics as a means to minimize the environmental impact of products and processes throughout their life cycle are also included.
