Syllabus

Course Objectives

Educational objectives - Study energy as a factor of production and development. - Show the international and national picture of the situation of energy resources. - Provide knowledge of economic indices based on energy consumption in order to make comparisons between economic systems, industrial sectors and individual industries. Expected learning outcomes KNOWLEDGE Since today's civilization is characterized by enormous progress made in the scientific and technological field, at the end of the course students will have the cognitive tools to: explain the economic facts related to energy sources, starting from the examination of the technical aspects; - analyze the environmental effects of energy production. ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING At the end of the course students will be able to: - apply knowledge to identify the main critical issues related to the forms of energy currently used and potentially usable. COMMUNICATION SKILLS At the end of the course students will have acquired the following communication skills: - know how to use economic language appropriately - rigorously explain and discuss the technical-economic relationships related to the topics studied

Teaching Methods

The course is divided into 72 hours of frontal teaching. The lessons are conducted by the teacher and include a strong interactive component with the students. Attendance is optional, but recommended.

Assessment Methods

TYPE OF EXAMINATION Oral LEARNING VERIFICATION METHODS The verification of the students' preparation will take place through an interview (oral exam), consisting of 3-4 questions concerning the topics to be taught. The ability to re-elaborate reference material communication skills and the maturity to develop critical thinking will also be tested. The evaluation will be expressed in thirtieths. VOTE Vote in thirtieths

The course will be conducted in an interdisciplinary manner, trying to make the facts and technical aspects of energy sources understandable in connection with the economic and financial aspects of this sector. In fact, if on the one hand it is quite easy to find documents on the technical aspects of energy, on energy sources and on "machines", or to find manuals and treatises regarding the exclusively economic aspects of energy, on the other hand it is more difficult to find literature that examines the technical aspects of energy sources to explain the economic and financial facts connected to them. This is particularly felt for the analysis of the environmental effects of energy production. Since the current civilization is characterized by the enormous progress made in the scientific and technological field, economics scholars will be able to carry out their functions better if they take into account the technical content of economic problems. The various topics will be treated in such a way as to contain a historical part, a technical part with the most important energy production cycles and an economic-commercial part
