Course Objectives


Development of deductive reasoning, accuracy, interpretation of experimental and observational data in the field of medicinal chemistry

Course Prerequisites


None. However, it is recommended to have at least attended the course of Organic Chemistry 1.

Teaching Methods


Expository theoretical classes, using powerpoint presentations and/or other presentation programs, videos, case studies, which seek to promote critical thinking and the interrelationship of knowledge.Execution of practical work involving participants in the execution of methodologies used in the isolation, synthesis, purification, purity control and analysis of drugs.

Assessment Methods


Attendance of at least 75% of classes is mandatory. The assessment will consist of reports on laboratory work (30%) and a written exam dealing with all matters dealt with in person (70%). A positive assessment leads to the attribution of the respective training certificate. ​​​​​​​

Contents


Study of the reactivity and chemical-physical properties of selected classes of molecules. Use of these characteristics in Pharmaceutical Chemistry. Laboratory exercises related to the theoretical lessons.
