Syllabus

Course Objectives

The course aims to:

1) KNOWLEDGE, UNDERSTANDING: Knowledge and ability to master theoretical questions about marginality and conflict, also considering the different levels of analysis involved, such as social justice, poverty, educational poverty, elements that connote different forms of social marginality and, therefore, potential conflict, but also the theme of identity, subjective, cultural, religious, ethnic, gender, so capillarly involved in the dimensions of the conflict.

2)ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: The theoretical reference framework aims to train professionals in the pedagogical and educational field capable of bringing methods and strategies for conflict resolution in the logic of inclusion and respect in the different learning environments (school, family, territory) and in the different ages of life.

3) AUTONOMY OF JUDGMENT: the student will have to acquire an autonomous and independent mode of reflection on the topics covered, with critical and reflective thinking, avoiding forms of mnemonic and nozionistic study.

4) COMMUNICATIVE SKILLS: The student will have to acquire the specific terminology of the topics covered, providing definitions and conceptual clarifications, both in written and oral form.

5) ABILITY TO LEARN: The student should also acquire the ability to expand learning independently and naturally interested in developing knowledge, skills and research on the subject.

Teaching Methods


Lectures and laboratory teaching.
Classes will be held in person, subject to the provisions of the University Guidelines for the provision of distance learning in conventional degree programs. All categories of students established by the University regulations and agreements are entitled to access online classes. To facilitate the participation of students enrolled in degree programs taught in person at a University location other than the one where the lessons for this course are taught, the start of teaching activities will be within the 15-minute academic period, and these students will also be guaranteed access to online classes.​​​​​​​

The course aims to provide the basic concepts in understanding the concept of "conflict", analysing the meaning also in relation to the different domains, subjective and collective, where the conflict can manifest itself, Looking at techniques and methodologies applied to the construction of a training course focused on the search for educational tools capable of putting into action "generative conflicts" useful to the harmonic resolution of different perspectives. Conflict is a peculiar element of relational life at all levels (family, collective, social, psychological, relational, political, ethnic, religious) defining the respective starting points, connotation of subjective and cultural variables in different constellations of values and existences. The objective will be to open ways of conflict resolution aimed at dialogue and generative confrontation between the parties, also by delving into some crucial issues in conflict such as the concept of identity and social justice, also in the pedagogical context of educational poverty.
