Course Objectives


By the end of the course, students will be able to:
Knowledge and understanding:


know and define the concepts of:


educational mediation;

educational device;

curriculum, module, session;

design, action, simulation;

teaching with EAS (Episodes of Situated Learning);

authentic assessment and feedback;

educational ecosystem and teacher professionalism.


Applied understanding:Given an educational pathway, students will be able to identify and describe:


objectives and competences;

cognitive conflict;

teaching strategies and assessment methodologies;

devices and underlying logics.

Course Prerequisites


Basic pedagogical knowledge

Teaching Methods


The course will employ a range of strategies, including lectures, interactive lectures, and group activities.
Each module will be structured in the following sequence of phases:


eliciting cognitive conflict by asking students for their point of view;

presenting situations that reveal the conflict between students’ conceptual frameworks and real-world contexts;

analysing the situations and critical issues that emerged in the previous phases, drawing on the theoretical perspectives introduced during the course;

deepening and applying knowledge to real educational contexts.

Oral examination; intermediate and final written and practical assessments.

Contents


The course adopts a macro-systemic perspective at the outset, progressively focusing on micro-systemic processes with the aim of highlighting strengths and limitations, as well as the coherence and contradictions across different levels of educational design.
The concept of teaching action will be explored in depth, with an examination of its characteristics as an organised activity. Particular attention will be given to theories of mediators and pedagogical formats.
The course aims to develop competences in educational design for integrated 0–6 pathways, with an emphasis on coherence, sustainability, and ecosystemic contextualisation.
