Syllabus

Course Objectives


The course aims to offer a critical reflection on the complex historical and theoretical path taken by pedagogy to acquire an autonomous scientific epistemological status in which education emerges as a governing category, capable of providing individuals with the tools to meet the challenges of a complex society.
Attention will also be focused on the educational models of today's complex society, the crisis of democracy and new educational emergencies.


Course Prerequisites


General cultural and historical knowledge, as well as the fundamentals of modern and contemporary history necessary to better understand the emergence and evolution of the pedagogical theories and models presented during the course.

Teaching Methods


Active and participatory method, lectures with discussion and seminars exploring certain topics covered in the course; case studies, exercises and design projects, carried out in groups and/or individually

Assessment Methods


Oral examination.
Possible mid-term examinations.
Students will be assessed on their ability to express independent judgement, critical learning skills and make cross-disciplinary connections between different topics. The appropriateness and effectiveness of the language used will also be assessed.
