Course Objectives


The aim of the course is to provide the theoretical and practical knowledge necessary for the quantitative determination of substances of pharmaceutical interest, using both chemical and instrumental methods, with particular regard to substances registered in the European Pharmacopoeia




Course Prerequisites


Preliminary examinations:

Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry and analytical chemistry laboratory. Previous knowledge is represented by the contents of the General and Inorganic Chemistry Course on the following topics: stoichiometry, acid-base equilibria, electrochemistry, complexometry, of the Organic Chemistry Course relative to the properties of the main functional groups, and to the Course of Analytical Chemistry and Laboratory of Analytical Chemistry in relation to the titlings and the propaedeutic instrumental part




Teaching Methods


The course is divided into 72 hours of lectures and 48 hours of laboratory exercises




Assessment Methods


The exam consists of a written test (2 exercises for 80 min. Duration of the test) and an oral test. The candidate is admitted to the oral test with a minimum mark of 15/30. In the final evaluation, which will have as a starting point the voting of the written test, the Laboratory Exercises related to the unknown tests carried out during the course as well as the abilities of understanding and personal re-elaboration of the contents of the Italian and European Pharmacopoeia relative to monographs of the various active principles
