CACCIATORE Ivana

Prof. Ivana Cacciatore obtained her degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology (summa cum laude) from the University “G. d’Annunzio” of Chieti-Pescara (Italy) in 1999, and her PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the same University in 2002. After a postdoctoral period (2003–2005), she became Assistant Professor at the same University in 2005. In 2016, she was appointed Associate Professor at the Department of Pharmacy, University “G. d’Annunzio” of Chieti-Pescara.
In November 2020, she was elected President of the Bachelor’s Degree Program in Eco-Sustainable Technologies and Environmental Toxicology at the Department of Pharmacy for the academic period 2020/2021–2022/2023. This position was subsequently renewed for an additional three-year term, until the academic year 2025/2026.
She is currently in charge of the courses “Pharmaceutical and Toxicological Chemistry II” (Degree Program in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology) and “Environmental Chemical-Toxicological Analysis” (Bachelor’s Degree Program in Eco-Sustainable Technologies and Environmental Toxicology) at the University “G. d’Annunzio” of Chieti-Pescara. She has also carried out teaching activities at foreign universities, including the University of Aldent (Albania) in 2025 and the Universitat de València (Spain) in 2026.
Her current research activity is focused on the development of new drugs with antimicrobial, anticancer, and neuroprotective activities. This work is documented by more than 130 publications in peer-reviewed international scientific journals (H-index 34), numerous oral presentations at national and international conferences, and interdisciplinary collaborations with academic institutions and pharmaceutical industries. She is also the author of 3 patents and is involved in contract research activities with Dompé Farmaceutici (L’Aquila, Italy). She is listed among the Top 2% Scientists Worldwide according to the Stanford University Ranking (Elsevier, 2024–2025).
Since 2021, she has been Editor-in-Chief of the journal *Letters in Drug Design & Discovery* (Bentham Science Publishers B.V.). She is also Associate Editor for *Exploration of Foods and Foodomics* (Open Exploration Publishing), Section Editor for *Current Pharmaceutical Design* (Drug Conjugates section, Bentham Science), member of the Editorial Board of *Pharmaceutics* (MDPI) and *Current Drug Therapy* (Bentham Science Publishers B.V.), and Guest Editor for several special issues of scientific journals.
In May 2020, she co-founded the spin-off ALGO BIOTECHNOLOGIES S.r.l., where she serves as Chief Innovation Officer (CIO) and member of the Board of Directors. Since 2022, the company has been registered as an innovative start-up in the Italian Business Register.
