Curriculum Vitae
Professor Sergio Montelpare is a Full Professor of Building Physics and Energy Systems (SSD IIND-07/B, formerly ING-IND/11) at the Department of Engineering and Geology of the University “G. d’Annunzio” of Chieti–Pescara. He graduated cum laude in Mechanical Engineering from the Marche Polytechnic University in 1998 and obtained his PhD in Applied Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer from the same University in 2001.
His academic career initially developed at Marche Polytechnic University, where he carried out research activities as a research fellow and later worked as graduate technical staff. Since 2012 he has been affiliated with the University “G. d’Annunzio”, where he has served as assistant professor, associate professor, and, since 2021, full professor.
At the university he has held several institutional and academic governance roles. Since 2023 he has been Director of the Department of Engineering and Geology, and since 2024 he has been a member of the Academic Senate. Previously, he served as Chair of the Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree Programmes in Building Engineering.
He is a member of PhD boards dealing with topics related to sustainable development, energy transition, and resilience of the built environment.
His research activity is in the field of Environmental Technical Physics.
His main research areas include:
• energy efficiency and sustainability of the built environment;
• thermo-fluid dynamic simulation of energy systems;
• renewable energy sources;
• impacts of climate change and adaptation strategies;
• environmental and architectural acoustics and indoor environmental quality;
• conservation and enhancement of cultural heritage.
He is the author of numerous scientific publications in indexed international journals and participates in national and European research projects (PRIN, PON, PNC, Horizon) in the fields of energy, sustainability, and technological innovation for the built environment.
