BERTOLLO MAURIZIO

Maurizio Bertollo is Professor of Exercise and Sports Sciences (GSD 06/MEDF01/b, SSD MEDF01/b) at the G. d’Annunzio University of Chieti-Pescara, Department of Medicine and Sciences of aging, and he is Director of the BIND research center – Behavioral Imaging and Neural Dynamics center. At the same University he was the Rector’s delegate for internationalization from 2018 to 2023 and Coordinator of the Master degree in Adapted Physical Activity. He is currently the coordinator of the PhD in Kinesiology. Since 2015 he has also been Visiting Professor of Human performance at the University of Suffolk and is currently the President of the European Federation of Sport Psychology (FEPSAC). He obtained a PhD in Sports Sciences from the University of Vila Real (PT) after graduating in Physical Education and Sports Sciences, in Pedagogy and in Psychology, and having obtained various post-graduate specializations in psychotherapy, psychology, sports sciences and pedagogy. He has international collaborations with universities and research centers in the USA, Brazil, EU and Asia and is a scientific consultant for some international companies and organizations. He has worked as a scientific consultant, psychologist, and/or coach for many Italian sports clubs, federations (e.g., Modern Pentathlon, Triathlon, Swimming, Rink Hockey, Soccer, Cycling, Track and Field, and Shooting) and for the National Olympic committee. Before moving to the University, he was also PE teacher, School Psychologist and Headmaster. His research activity focuses on the processes and mechanisms underlying the development, maintenance and improvement of human motor behaviour and performance. Current research interests include Bio-psycho-physiological state underpinning performance, Individual Zones of Optimal Functioning, Stress recovery-balance in sport, Psychophysiological monitoring and intervention in sport. He has published more than 250 works including articles in journals, books and book chapters. He has acted as a reviewer for 30 different scientific journals and is a member of the editorial board of the journals Psychology of Sport & Exercise, International Journal of Sport and Exercise, Journal of Sports Sciences, Sport, Frontiers in Psychology, Frontiers in Human Neuroscience, PEERJ, Heliyon, and Italian Journal of Sports Psychology.
